Written by Joanna Lim

The Film Awards season carried on into February with Saturday's 37th Annie Awards, honouring the best animated films, television productions, commercials, short subjects and outstanding individual achievements from the past year.

Disney-Pixar's "Up" won best animated feature and best director (Pete Docter) whilst Disney's return to 2D animation, "The Princess and The Frog" picked up three awards for animated effects, character animation and voice acting in a feature.  Nominated for ten awards and also taking home three was "Coraline" for character design, music and production design.

Wes Anderson's "The Fantastic Mr Fox" bagged Best Script and "Monsters vs Aliens" won for Storyboarding in a Feature Production.
Flying with its Annie's into the Oscars next month, "Up" is the forerunner to take the "Best Animated Feature" award: the Annie's have so far predicted the winner seven out of nine times.
