Starring a stellar cast, including George C Scott, Raul Julia, Robert Downey Jr and Gabriel Byrne, Mussolini is a drama series that investigates the emotional trauma suffered under the tyrannical reign of one of Italy's most notorious dictators.

The series opens in Rome during 1922, at a time when Mussolini's regime was hailed into government as the dawning of a new age of politics.He represented the working class, but soon changed his loyalties, and this ultimately lead to the destruction of the working class voice. His abandonment of those who elected him into power was strongly against his socialist upbring.

This corrupt strategy continued throughout his career, and whilst he remained in power until 1943, it became well known that this was due to him fixing elections. Forcing Italy to partake in wars it could ill afford, nor warrant a true reason to be participating in, it was only a matter of time before the whole country fell into decline..

With a look at the supposed family man behind the founder of fascism, this series dramatises the rise and fall of Benito Mussolini, as he leads Italy to bloodshed, war and poverty, and the personal struggles this created.
